Privacy Policy for Simple Color Picker

Chrome Extension · Last updated: July 26, 2026

Prominent disclosure: when you click Pick Color or use the keyboard shortcut, Simple Color Picker only reads the single color value you actively choose from the current page. It stores your recent color values and language preference locally in your browser. It does not read cookies, form data, page text, images, browsing history, or upload/share data.

Scope

This policy applies to the Simple Color Picker Chrome Extension and this extension-related privacy page under /extensions/simple-color-picker/privacy. The main ToolPile website has a separate privacy policy for website features, analytics, accounts, and hosted tools.

Data handled by the extension

The extension handles the minimum data needed for its single purpose: picking and reusing colors.

User action and consent

The extension only starts the color picker after a user action: clicking the extension’s Pick Color button, clicking the extension action, or using its configured keyboard shortcut. You can cancel the picker with Esc before selecting a color.

Local storage, retention, and deletion

Recent colors and language preference stay in your browser and are not intentionally sent to ToolPile servers. You can delete color history with the extension’s Clear History button. You can remove all extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage in Chrome.

Permissions

Permissions are used strictly for the visible color-picking feature:

Extension behavior: the extension makes no network requests for the color picker feature and does not load remote code, fonts, analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking scripts. Everything needed for the extension is packaged locally.
